Panangarupatti: Panangarupatti is a special type of palm
jaggery prepared in the Tenkasi region of Tamil Nadu. Its production process
remains rooted in tradition, without any modern additives.
Red Sand Dune Soil: The
uniqueness of Panangarupatti lies in the soil. The palm sap used for making
this jaggery comes from the region around Tenkasi, which has red sand dune
soil. This soil holds less groundwater, resulting in a distinct flavor profile.
Dry Climate Advantage: Tenkasi’s
dry climate plays a crucial role. With less moisture in the atmosphere, the
palm sap has a higher sucrose content, enhancing the sweetness. Additionally,
this climate allows for longer storage of karupatti.
Chemical-Free Preparation: Unlike
some commercial jaggery, Tenkasi Panangarupatti is free from chemical additives
like Triple Super Phosphate and phosphoric acid. It’s pure, natural, and
wholesome.
